It’s hard to believe 2014’s workshops over at the 6 Degrees of Creativity online site will be coming to an end soon…. It’s been a delight to offer and explore the 6 different workshop themes featured throughout the last 10 months! In this post, I wanted to share some of the highlights inspired by this year’s community & creativity-!
Our last swap that finished up this month was inspired by the Ribbons of Hope project happening in Ferguson, Missouri. We created and contributed positive and healing messages for the Ferguson community, as well as exchanged hope infused ribbons with one another: 6 Degrees of Creativity’s Creative Deed Project included art-based prompts and ideas to empower hope, thankfulness, kindness, and giving back to others through engaging in creative expression. Deeds ranged from making tokens of kindness with altered dominoes or artist trading cards, creative adaptations of the “take what you need” poster, gratitude art, and participating as an official Arts & Culture League team in this year’s Compassion Games.
Members of the workshop and 6 Degrees of Creativity Facebook community were invited to participate in an Artist Trading Card swap onsite at the national art therapy conference in San Antonio: It’s also a pleasure to feature some of members of the workshops…. It’s always exciting to see how themes, ideas, & prompts are transformed by each individual into their work and creative life.
Theresa worked on an altered book inspired by the Self-Care through Creative Practice and Intention workshop, often using Dr. Dennis Charney’s Resilience Prescription to guide her work and art.
In the spirit of Everyday Creativity, Nancy shared her motivation and process behind her first 365 Project that she started at the beginning of this year:The workshop community learned about the Art Abandonment Project and Eleni’s efforts towards this creative initiative were very inspiring! Learn about her quest to randomly gift her father’s old paintings as a labor of love after his passing:
And in the Ready for Revo’lution Art Journaling workshop, Isabelle worked on an altered book that honored a series of personal intentions she identified: Thank you for each of the artists for sharing their work and everyone who participated in this year’s creative fun! I am excited for more creative goodness in 2015!
